Airtel has been honoured with the Best in Technology for Development award at the 2025 Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility Awards (SERAS), held last weekend at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The award recognises the impact of the Airtel Africa Foundation in promoting digital inclusion across Nigeria and parts of Africa through a range of education- and skills-focused initiatives. Among the cited programmes is the Foundation’s investment in the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, which has supported the training of 25,000 young Nigerians across 46 local government areas.
The Foundation was also applauded for its Reimagine Education initiative with UNICEF, through which 942,670 pupils in 1,268 public schools have been connected to digital learning platforms nationwide. Additional projects highlighted include university scholarship programmes for 100 students in tertiary institutions and other community interventions with nationwide reach.
Reacting to the recognition, the Foundation said the award underscores the role of technology as a catalyst for social impact, noting that its programmes are designed to equip young Nigerians with relevant digital skills and expand access to learning opportunities.
The Airtel Africa Foundation reiterated its commitment to developing tools, platforms and partnerships that will enable more young people to participate meaningfully in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
