At the 3rd FAAN National Aviation Conference, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, to focus on the future of Nigerian aviation.
The conference, themed “Elevating the Nigerian Aviation Industry through Investment, Partnership and Global Engagements,” underscored the critical role of aviation in driving the country’s economy, enhancing connectivity, and boosting competitiveness.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized Lagos’ commitment to creating a fully integrated transport system, linking rail, road, water, and air networks. The Blue and Red Line trains are already serving thousands of commuters, while the upcoming Green Line will connect Marina to the Lekki corridor and the planned Lekki–Epe International Airport.
The new airport aims to ease congestion at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), support the fast-growing Lekki industrial axis, and position Lagos as West Africa’s leading aviation and logistics hub. The project is being designed with climate responsibility, strong community engagement, and long-term economic impact in mind.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed Lagos’ commitment to partnering with FAAN, NCAA, and the Federal Government to build a safer, stronger, and more competitive aviation sector. He added that Lagos remains open for business and poised to attract investors and airline partners to realize its ambitious vision.
