Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding job opportunities for youths and women in the state. The governor disclosed this after a strategic meeting with a high-powered delegation from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) at Government House, Port Harcourt.
The delegation, led by the NDE Director-General, Mallam Silas Ali Agara, outlined several empowerment and skill-development programmes targeted at boosting employment across the country. Governor Fubara expressed full support for the initiatives, noting that they align with ongoing state-government efforts to enhance economic growth and security through increased youth engagement.
“This opens up a wide range of opportunities to engage more of our people and promote economic prosperity and a more secure environment,” Fubara stated, praising the initiative as a complement to the Federal Government’s drive spearheaded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a separate engagement, the governor attended a service of songs in honour of the late Pa Monday Perekeme Sinclair at the Ecumenical Center, Abonnema Wharf Road, Port Harcourt. Pa Sinclair was remembered as a respected mentor who played a pivotal role in nurturing young football talents, many of whom went on to attain national recognition.
The governor paid tribute to the late sports mentor, acknowledging his lasting impact on youth development and sports in Rivers State.
