In a move hailed as a significant boost for child-focused development efforts across the continent, global football star Ousmane Dembélé has accepted an invitation from the Dangote Foundation to participate in its upcoming Charity Run for the Children of Africa.
The Foundation’s chairman, Aliko Dangote, announced the development in an official statement, emphasizing that the initiative aligns with the organization’s core mission: ensuring every African child has the opportunity to hope, learn, and succeed.
According to Dangote, Dembélé’s response reflects deep personal values and genuine empathy. In his message to the Foundation, the French-Senegalese international expressed strong support for the cause.
“I was born into a humble community, and I grew up with the values of solidarity and courage. If I can help the children of Africa believe in their dreams, then I will participate without hesitation. I will be by your side for this cause.”
Dangote described Dembélé’s commitment as a “gesture of true African brotherhood,” saying the charity run is not merely a sporting event but a rallying point for collective progress.
The initiative aims to mobilize African businesses, athletes, artists, and leaders toward providing educational and healthcare opportunities for children across the continent, with funds directed toward building schools, hospitals, and essential infrastructure.
“Africa doesn’t need pity; it needs opportunities,” Dangote said, urging stakeholders to join the movement. “An educated child is a continent moving forward. A child receiving care is a future reborn.”
The charity run, scheduled to take place later this year, is expected to draw significant continental and global participation, with the Foundation positioning the event as a major philanthropic milestone for Africa.
