Abuja, Nigeria — The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, has provided an update on the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s position on the global technology and innovation map.
In a statement shared on his LinkedIn page on Monday, Dr. Tijani said the ministry has been engaged in a series of strategic activities as the country enters the final quarter of the year. He reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining transparency and openness in communicating the ministry’s progress and initiatives.
“It’s been an extremely busy few weeks for us at the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy as we entered into the final quarter of the year,” the minister said.
“One of my commitments to you is to provide open and transparent updates on our work at the ministry and we’ve been committed to this from the very start.”
Dr. Tijani explained that the ministry has been working on several key projects aimed at consolidating Nigeria’s place in the global technology ecosystem, adding that a series of reports tagged #WeekInReview would provide updates on these activities.
The first part of the three-part report, now available online, focuses on Nigeria’s participation at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80) in New York. The report highlights the ministry’s efforts during the two-week period, including side events organized under the theme “Nigeria’s Digital Economy @ UNGA80.”
According to the minister, the engagements at UNGA80 were geared toward attracting international partnerships and investments to further develop Nigeria’s growing digital economy. He also hinted at “big wins” achieved in recent weeks, with more announcements expected before the end of the year.
“We will be updating you on our efforts to place and keep Nigeria on the global map of technology and innovation, even as we attract more support for our growing digital economy,” Tijani said.
The ministry’s #WeekInReview series will continue with two additional reports covering other national and international initiatives undertaken in the past month.
