The September edition of #DevsinGovernment was held last week, focusing on the theme “Innovating with Privacy: Building Trust in Government Digital Services.” The forum brought together technology and data protection experts who underscored the critical role of privacy and data security in strengthening citizens’ confidence in government-led digital transformation.
Panelists at the event included Barrister Babatunde Bamigboye, Head of Legal, Enforcement and Regulation at the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC); Alhaji Hakeem Ajijola, Chair of the African Union Cybersecurity Expert Group; Tokunbo Taiwo, Executive Director, Digital Jewels Africa; Agwu David Nwaze, Data Protection Officer at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC); and Salisu Abba Abdulrazaq, Data Protection Officer at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
The speakers’ lineup featured Dr. Thuweba Noor Diwani, Commission Manager of GIZ/Digital Transformation Centre (DTC); Dr. Favour Femi-Oyewole, Group Chief Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer at Access Bank Group; and Deji Olajide, Chief Executive Officer of Quadcare Technologies Limited.
Throughout the session, participants examined practical ways to integrate privacy frameworks into public sector innovation, emphasizing that data protection is not only a legal obligation but also a catalyst for digital trust, transparency, and inclusivity.
