The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first Data Protection Authority to benefit from the cutting-edge human capital development initiative offered by the Smart Africa Digital Academy. In a strategic move to fulfill their mandate, Smart Africa has exclusively designed a curriculum tailored for Data Protection Authorities across the African continent.

The comprehensive training program, conducted with the expertise of facilitators from Ernst & Young Global Consulting Services in Mauritius, aims to empower NDPC staff with the essential skills and capabilities required for the effective implementation of Data Protection and Privacy initiatives.

Key focus areas of the training encompassed crucial aspects such as Data Protection Authorities and Enforcement, Privacy Risk Landscape, Privacy Laws in Africa, Data Protection Impact Assessment, and Data Sharing and International Transfers. The curriculum was meticulously crafted to address the specific needs of NDPC, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the intricacies involved in safeguarding data and privacy.
