The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, made a notable impact at Tech Revolution Africa 2026, held at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, through a high-level fireside discussion that drew innovators, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders from across the continent.
Representing the Director General, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, Director of Stakeholder Management and Partnerships, led the conversation, providing detailed insights into Nigeria’s evolving digital agenda.
During the fireside chat titled “Building Nigeria’s Digital Journey: Policy, Infrastructure, and the Road Ahead,” Dr. Onumo elaborated on NITDA’s strategic roadmap for accelerating national digital transformation. He highlighted key initiatives, including the development of adaptive, innovation-friendly policies, the expansion of modern digital infrastructure to enhance nationwide connectivity, and sustained investment in talent development to harness Nigeria’s youthful population.
“NITDA is committed to creating an enabling environment where digital innovation thrives, startups flourish, and young Nigerians are empowered to lead in technology and entrepreneurship,” Dr. Onumo said.
He also emphasised NITDA’s continued support for startups, digital creators, and tech entrepreneurs, underscoring the role of strategic partnerships in advancing Nigeria’s digital ambitions at national, continental, and global levels.
“Strong collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential for building a sustainable and competitive digital ecosystem. Together, we can ensure that Nigeria remains at the forefront of the global digital economy,” he added.
A significant announcement during the session was NITDA’s goal of achieving 50 million digitally literate Nigerians by 2027, a milestone aimed at stimulating innovation, deepening digital inclusion, and strengthening the country’s competitive edge in the global digital landscape.
The event further positioned NITDA as a central player in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda, showcasing the agency’s commitment to policy innovation, infrastructure development, and capacity-building in line with the nation’s vision for a robust and inclusive digital economy.
