The leadership of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the ease of doing business and attracting greater investment into Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector following a strategic visit to the Lagos Free Zone.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the NUPRC Board, Senator Magnus Abe, and the Commission Chief Executive, Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, visited the Lagos Free Zone on July 15, 2026 as part of the Commission’s stakeholder engagement and investment promotion efforts.

The NUPRC team was received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Free Zone Company, Adesuwa Ladoja, who conducted the delegation on a tour of the facility and provided insights into the operations and investment opportunities within Nigeria’s first private free trade zone.

According to the Commission, the visit formed part of its broader strategy to strengthen engagement with key industry stakeholders while identifying opportunities that can support operators in the upstream petroleum sector.

The discussions focused on creating a more business-friendly operating environment, improving regulatory efficiency, and encouraging increased local and foreign investment in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

NUPRC noted that fostering stronger collaboration between regulators and strategic investment hubs such as the Lagos Free Zone is essential to enhancing competitiveness, supporting industrial development, and unlocking new opportunities across the upstream petroleum value chain.

The visit underscores the Commission’s ongoing efforts to implement reforms aimed at improving investor confidence, promoting ease of doing business, and advancing the Federal Government’s objective of positioning Nigeria as a preferred destination for energy investments.
