The Presidency has reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital identity infrastructure and stronger inter-agency collaboration to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in Nigeria’s energy sector.
This was highlighted during a strategic meeting between the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Mrs. Olu Verheijen, and the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, who led a delegation to the Presidential Energy Office.
According to Mrs. Verheijen, the engagement focused on deepening institutional collaboration to support the Federal Government’s drive for digital transformation and improved governance across the energy sector.
She noted that as the administration advances President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, integrated government systems and a robust digital identity ecosystem will play a critical role in improving policy implementation, enhancing regulatory oversight, and delivering more efficient public services.
The Special Adviser emphasised that trusted digital identity infrastructure is essential for building transparent, technology-driven institutions capable of creating measurable value for citizens while supporting evidence-based decision-making across government.
Mrs. Verheijen commended the National Identity Management Commission for its continued efforts in expanding Nigeria’s digital identity ecosystem and expressed optimism about the opportunities that closer collaboration between both institutions would unlock.
She added that the partnership is expected to strengthen government coordination, improve service delivery, and accelerate the adoption of digital solutions that support sustainable development in Nigeria’s energy sector.
The meeting underscores the Federal Government’s broader commitment to harnessing technology, innovation, and institutional partnerships to modernise governance and improve outcomes for Nigerians.
