Abuja, Nigeria — The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, has reaffirmed the critical role of a robust identity management system in building an efficient, transparent, and modern revenue administration.
Adedeji made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission, Abisoye Coker-Odusote, at the NRS headquarters.
Speaking during the meeting, the NRS Chairman congratulated the NIMC Director-General on the progress recorded by the Commission under her leadership, describing her tenure as one marked by significant achievements in Nigeria’s identity management system.
He noted that reliable identity data remains the foundation of modern revenue administration, stressing that the partnership between NRS and NIMC is essential to improving tax administration and enhancing public confidence in the nation’s tax system.
According to Adedeji, the quality and integrity of identity data directly influence the accuracy, fairness, and transparency of tax assessments, while also supporting voluntary tax compliance and improving revenue collection. He described the relationship between the two institutions as strategic, stating that the effectiveness of the Nigeria Revenue Service depends significantly on the quality of data generated by the National Identity Management Commission.
The Executive Chairman disclosed that both agencies have held a series of strategic engagements aimed at strengthening collaboration and aligning their operations to support the Federal Government’s revenue and digital identity objectives.
He reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with NIMC, pledging continued support for initiatives that promote stronger identity management systems, improved data integrity, and more efficient revenue administration.
Adedeji also congratulated the NIMC Director-General and the Commission on its recent institutional achievements, commending the leadership and staff for advancing reforms that continue to strengthen Nigeria’s identity management ecosystem.
