Governor has honoured the late monarch of Badagry Kingdom, describing him as a symbol of unity and a custodian of culture whose legacy will endure for generations.
The governor made the remarks after attending a church service and celebration of life held in honour of , popularly known as Oba Babatunde. The solemn gathering brought together traditional rulers, government officials, community leaders, and residents who came to pay their last respects and celebrate the monarch’s life and reign.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the late Akran played a pivotal role in fostering peace and unity within Badagry Kingdom, adding that his leadership was marked by a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to his people. He emphasized that the monarch was not only a traditional ruler but also a cultural ambassador who consistently promoted the rich history and heritage of Badagry on both local and national platforms.
Reflecting on his contributions, the governor highlighted the monarch’s dedication to community development, stating that he gave his time and energy selflessly to initiatives that improved the lives of his people. According to him, the late ruler’s reign was defined by service, humility, and a passion for progress.
He further described the late Akran as a respected voice whose influence extended beyond the kingdom, noting that his efforts helped strengthen the identity and pride of the Badagry people.
Sanwo-Olu concluded by offering prayers for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul, expressing confidence that his legacy of unity, cultural preservation, and service would continue to inspire future generations in Badagry Kingdom and beyond.
