Accra, Ghana — Nigerian development consultant Oluwatoyin Banjo has emphasized the critical role of collaboration and ecosystem-building in driving Africa’s economic growth, following her recent participation in the Gateway Ghana Trade and Immersive Business Tour.
Banjo, who serves as Program Director at Ideation Hub Africa, said her trip was guided by clear strategic objectives, including fostering cross-border partnerships, exploring market expansion opportunities, and developing scalable systems for impact across the continent.
During the tour, she engaged in high-level stakeholder discussions and market immersion activities, which she noted led to a key realization about the importance of “alignment” among African innovators and business leaders.
Reflecting on a pivotal meeting with a Ghanaian founder, Banjo said the experience reinforced her belief that Africa’s progress depends not on isolated achievements but on intentional collaboration among stakeholders with shared values and vision.
She further highlighted the growing importance of structured ecosystems in supporting women-led trade and enterprise, noting that sustainable growth is driven by networks that provide access to markets, capital, policy insights, and strategic partnerships.
According to Banjo, collaboration should be viewed as a deliberate leadership choice rather than a passive outcome, requiring clarity, alignment, and mutual purpose among participants.
The consultant outlined five key insights from her experience, including the role of ecosystems as essential infrastructure for scaling businesses, the importance of access in transforming ambition into execution, and the need for interconnected growth strategies across African markets.
She also commended Blooming Ladies, organizers of the Gateway Ghana Trade and Immersive Business Tour, for creating a platform that fosters meaningful engagement and partnership-building.
Banjo concluded that Africa’s future growth will depend on leaders who prioritize collaboration over competition, particularly among women driving innovation and enterprise across the continent.
