Ondo State, a South Western state that can be said to me unique is once again leading the pack! Demonstrating leadership skills and the need to attract investment in the state.
Recently,Rotimi Akeredolu, the Executive Governor of the state attended the padding out parade of the first recruit of local and regional security outfit known as “Amotekun” literally meaning tiger or leopard.
This regional security outfit is coming at a time that the region is facing insecurities and stakeholders are seeing that these insecurities might lead to hostilities. It is believed that in some quarters that this outfit would augment the overstressed central police force! Though some school of thought aren’t in tune or agreement with the outfit saying that it might lead or evolve to regional militias!
Speaking on the outfit,Innocent Adulugba said ” I pray that Yoruba can hold Amotekun from external infiltration and it can be used as a bergaining chip in the central. “
Tosin Ajisafe said that ” it is a good avenue for job creation but I know that it would be abused as times go on.”
Micheal Alonge “I hope that it will not go the way of OPC, those guys are something else.”
“I hope that these guys are properly trained and not end up harrasing innocent citizens as most of these uniformed folks do”,Ijeoma Uchendu concluded
“Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Operation Amotekun (Leopard), is a security outfit based in all the six states of the South Western, Nigeria, responsible for curbing insecurity in the region.[1] It was founded on 9 January 2020 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria as the first regional security outfit initiated by a geopolitical zone in Nigeria”, Wikipedia
