Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned the Lagos Fresh Food Hub in Pen Cinema, Agege, describing the facility as a major step towards improving food distribution and strengthening food security across the state.

The governor said the modern facility was designed to make the movement of food from farmers and suppliers to communities across Lagos more efficient and organised.

Built on 7,000 square metres, the hub features trading spaces for hundreds of traders, dry and cold storage facilities, a dedicated seafood section, parking spaces and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.

Sanwo-Olu said the facility would also help connect key players across the food supply chain, bringing farmers, traders, retailers, institutional buyers and consumers into a more coordinated distribution system.

According to him, Agege is one of the middle-level hubs within Lagos State’s wider food distribution network and receives supplies from the Central Food Security and Logistics Hub at Ketu-Ereyun.

He noted that the Agege facility would work alongside other food distribution hubs, including the one in Mushin, to bring food closer to residents while reducing inefficiencies in the supply chain.

“Together with hubs like Mushin, we are bringing food distribution closer to the people and strengthening food security across Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor added that the network of food hubs was part of the state’s broader strategy to create a more efficient, accessible and resilient food distribution system for Lagos residents.
