The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Finland as part of efforts to drive sustainable economic growth and achieve the objectives of the Nigeria Agenda 2050.
The Honourable Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, disclosed this following a meeting with the Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, Her Excellency Sanna Selin, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to the minister, the high-level discussions centred on expanding cooperation between Nigeria and Finland in strategic sectors critical to the country’s long-term development. These include trade expansion, technological innovation, information and communication technology (ICT), digital transformation, renewable energy, and human capital development.
Dr. Uzoka-Anite noted that the engagement reflects Nigeria’s commitment to fostering stronger international partnerships that support inclusive economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development.
She explained that under the Nigeria Agenda 2050 framework, the Federal Government is focused on building a diversified, resilient, and globally competitive economy capable of delivering long-term prosperity for Nigerians.
The minister further emphasised that collaboration with Finland presents significant opportunities to accelerate economic transformation through knowledge exchange, technology transfer, investment, and capacity building.
She expressed optimism that the growing partnership between both countries would translate into tangible outcomes that would benefit businesses, strengthen institutions, create jobs, and contribute to Nigeria’s broader development aspirations.
The meeting marks another step in Nigeria’s efforts to deepen diplomatic and economic relations with key international partners while advancing its vision of sustainable and inclusive national development.
