The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has paid tribute to the outgoing British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, describing his tenure as one defined by unwavering support for Nigeria’s reform agenda and a deep commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation between both countries.
Speaking during a farewell engagement, Adedeji commended the outgoing High Commissioner for his constructive partnership, technical expertise, and sustained collaboration, noting that his contributions have played an important role in advancing several institutional reforms currently being implemented by the Nigeria Revenue Service.
According to the Executive Chairman, Dr. Montgomery’s diplomatic engagement extended beyond traditional bilateral relations, providing strategic support that has helped shape policy development and strengthen reform implementation within the Service.
He noted that while the British envoy is concluding his diplomatic assignment in Nigeria, the positive impact of his leadership and collaboration will continue to influence the country’s public sector reforms for years to come.
Adedeji also expressed appreciation to the British High Commission for its consistent engagement with the Nigeria Revenue Service, emphasizing that the partnership has recognised the institution not merely as a revenue collection agency but as a strategic pillar within Nigeria’s broader economic and fiscal framework.
He explained that the High Commission’s technical cooperation and policy engagements have brought valuable international perspectives that continue to support institutional strengthening, improve governance processes, and enhance the implementation of critical reforms.
The Executive Chairman further thanked Dr. Montgomery for his exemplary service, professionalism, friendship, and dedication throughout his tenure in Nigeria.
He wished the outgoing diplomat continued success in his future assignments and expressed optimism that opportunities for future collaboration would arise as both countries continue to deepen their longstanding diplomatic and economic relations.
