Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to people-centred development through strategic infrastructure and economic diversification, following an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 30-kilometre Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbojaiye–KAP Film Village Road in Itesiwaju Local Government Area.
The governor, who visited the project site earlier in the day, said the road reconstruction is progressing satisfactorily and aligns with the government’s broader objective of improving rural connectivity, boosting local economies, and opening up underserved communities to investment opportunities.
According to Makinde, the road is of strategic importance as it connects agrarian settlements, enhances access to markets, and supports emerging economic activities in the area. He noted that improved road infrastructure is critical to reducing transportation costs, improving safety, and ensuring that rural communities are not left behind in the state’s development agenda.
As part of the visit, the governor also toured Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Film Village and Resorts, a private-sector-driven creative and tourism investment located along the project corridor. Makinde described the facility as a strong example of how infrastructure development can catalyse growth in the creative economy, attract tourism, and create jobs for local residents.
He emphasized that the state government’s investment in road infrastructure is not only about transportation, but also about deliberately enabling sectors such as agriculture, tourism, culture, and entertainment to thrive. The governor added that supporting initiatives like the KAP Film Village aligns with Oyo State’s strategy to diversify its economy and position the state as a hub for culture and creative enterprise.
Residents and community leaders in Itesiwaju LGA welcomed the project, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will improve living conditions and stimulate economic activity in the area.
The Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbojaiye road project is one of several infrastructure initiatives being executed across Oyo State under the Makinde administration, reflecting its focus on inclusive growth, sustainable development, and long-term economic impact.
