JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Nigerian technology leader and Google Developer Expert (Cloud), Gbemisola Esho, has been honoured with the Digital Trust Vanguard Award by the Google Developer Experts (GDE) community during the Google Cloud Summit and GDE Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The award recognises Esho’s contributions to advancing digital trust, cloud computing, cybersecurity, digital literacy, and internet accessibility across communities. It also highlights her efforts in promoting inclusive technology adoption and building capacity for individuals to better understand and leverage emerging technologies.
Reacting to the recognition, Esho described the award as a significant milestone, noting that impact in the technology sector extends beyond infrastructure and architecture to empowering communities through simplified technology education and awareness.
She reiterated her commitment to strengthening digital trust by advocating for secure cloud computing practices, cybersecurity, internet accessibility, universal inclusion, and a safer digital ecosystem. According to her, the recognition reflects years of work aimed at helping bridge the digital divide and ensuring technology remains accessible and beneficial to all.
Esho also acknowledged the contributions of the Google Cloud EMEA team and the Sub-Saharan Africa organising committee for delivering a successful summit, while expressing appreciation to the Google Developer Experts community for recognising community impact alongside technical innovation.
She said the recognition would serve as motivation to continue advancing initiatives that promote secure digital transformation, strengthen digital literacy, and expand access to technology across underserved communities.
