Lagos, Nigeria – Law x Tech, a pioneering platform dedicated to the intersection of law and technology in Africa, has announced its relaunch with a renewed vision to drive legal technology awareness, innovation, professional development, and industry collaboration across the continent.
Founded by legal and technology professional Sopuruchi Rufus, Law x Tech was established to bridge a critical gap in Africa’s evolving legal and technology ecosystem by creating a dedicated space for lawyers, technologists, founders, innovators, and students interested in the future of legal practice and digital transformation.
Speaking on the relaunch, Rufus noted that the platform was born from a personal journey of navigating both the legal and technology sectors and recognizing the absence of a community that meaningfully engaged with both disciplines.
According to him, while operational challenges and changing circumstances slowed the platform’s momentum in recent years, the growing impact of emerging technologies—particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI)—on legal practice has only reinforced the need for a dedicated legal technology ecosystem in Africa.
“The need for legal technology awareness, education, and innovation has never been greater. As AI continues to reshape legal practice and legal technology startups emerge across Nigeria and Africa, there remains a significant need for a platform solely focused on advancing conversations at the intersection of law and technology,” he said.
As part of its relaunch strategy, Law x Tech will introduce a series of initiatives designed to strengthen engagement, capacity building, and innovation within the legal technology sector.
Among the key initiatives is the launch of the Law x Tech Summit and Awards, which is expected to become Nigeria’s flagship legal technology conference and recognition programme. The event will bring together legal practitioners, policymakers, technology innovators, startup founders, academics, and industry stakeholders to discuss emerging trends and celebrate excellence in legal innovation.
The platform will also roll out specialized corporate and professional legal technology training programmes tailored to equip lawyers and legal professionals with the digital skills required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven legal environment.
In addition, Law x Tech will focus on identifying, promoting, and spotlighting legal technology innovations, startups, and transformative solutions emerging from Nigeria and across Africa.
Rufus emphasized that the relaunch marks a transition for Law x Tech from a community-focused initiative into a broader ecosystem platform dedicated to advancing the future of law and technology on the continent.
