Khalil Halilu has highlighted the growing role of local innovation in Nigeria’s industrial development following a visit by the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Arowolo Verheijen, to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

During the visit, NASENI showcased a range of locally developed technologies and products aimed at addressing critical national challenges, including renewable energy solutions and smart devices designed for everyday use in Nigeria.

According to Halilu, the engagement underscored the importance of transforming innovative ideas into practical products that can improve lives and support economic growth.

The presidential adviser also toured NASENI’s Centre of Excellence, described by the agency as one of Africa’s leading precision manufacturing hubs. The facility is focused on strengthening Nigeria’s manufacturing capacity and enabling the large-scale production of high-quality locally made products.

Halilu noted that the visit reflects a shared commitment between the federal government and NASENI to advance industrialisation through local innovation, strategic partnerships, and effective execution.

The development comes as Nigeria continues to prioritise technology-driven industrial growth and energy innovation as part of broader economic transformation efforts.
