The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and advancing data protection standards through a strategic human resources restructuring initiative.
Speaking at the opening of the Commission’s two-day Human Resources Restructuring Retreat held at the National Army Conference Centre, National Commissioner Dr. Vincent O. Olatunji emphasized the critical role of human capital in achieving institutional excellence and sustainable growth.
According to Olatunji, the implementation of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission’s strategic roadmap and the enforcement of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 require a workforce structure capable of driving innovation, professionalism, and operational efficiency.
He noted that the Commission has continued to establish itself as a leading voice in data protection and privacy across Africa, adding that sustaining this momentum will depend significantly on workforce quality, productivity, and ethical service delivery.
The retreat, he explained, is designed to reposition the Commission for improved organisational performance through workforce orientation, institutional restructuring, leadership development, and alignment with global best practices and Nigeria’s Public Service Rules.
Olatunji also highlighted the Commission’s commitment to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the NDPC aims to build a resilient and future-focused institution capable of advancing digital trust and data protection both within Nigeria and internationally.
The retreat brought together stakeholders and officials focused on enhancing the Commission’s long-term operational effectiveness and global competitiveness in the evolving digital economy.
