LAGOS, NIGERIA — As the world marks International Girls in ICT Day under the theme “Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation,” the Airtel Africa Foundation is turning words into action. Through its Tech Fellowship, the foundation is actively equipping young women with digital training, mentorship, and real-world experience in ICT and STEM—fields where they have long been underrepresented.
The result? A growing movement of confident, job-ready women reshaping the digital economy from within.
In Tanzania, Nigeria, and Uganda, fellows are discovering new career pathways, gaining foundational and future-ready digital skills, and stepping into roles as creators, not just consumers, of technology.
“Across our markets, these young women are proof of what becomes possible when girls are given the right tools and support,” the Foundation shared. “They aren’t just participating in digital transformation—they are helping to lead it.”
