Rev. Fred Obetoh, the General Overseer of Faith Cathedral International Church, delivered a powerful and deeply moving sermon titled *”God Is Able to Do”* on Sunday, September 22, 2024. The service, which was held at the church’s Egbeda, Lagos branch, focused on the unlimited power of God and the critical role of faith in the lives of believers.
Speaking to a packed congregation, Rev. Obetoh passionately expounded on Ephesians 3:20, reminding everyone that no matter how significant their request to God might seem, it is still small compared to what God can do in their lives. He challenged the congregation with a powerful rhetorical question: *”Is there anything too difficult for God to do?”*
“Many of you have not yet activated your faith,” Rev. Obetoh stated. “The Lord has commanded us to ask so that our joy may be full, but many of us still hold back. The blessings that God’s presence brings are far greater than any problem you face. Nothing can compare to the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding.”
Rev. Obetoh continued, explaining that although God is always ready to act, His timing may not align with our expectations. “God has promised, and He will fulfill it,” he said. “But sometimes, even when He’s able, He asks us to wait for the right time. Remember, God’s thoughts are not your thoughts. His ways are higher.”
Addressing the current social and economic challenges facing Nigerians, Rev. Obetoh encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith and commitment to the church. “The system of the world may try to make serving God difficult, but we must not forget the importance of gathering with the brethren, no matter the situation in the country. God is able to do far more than any man can understand, and He cannot lie. He will bring you peace and joy, even when you’re facing difficulties.”
In addition to his powerful message, Rev. Obetoh led the congregation in fervent prayers, targeting specific life challenges. “Every arrow shot into your place of work, back to sender! The arrow of discomfort, regret, and discouragement—back to sender in Jesus’ name!” He also prayed for the protection and prosperity of the attendees, particularly in their businesses and personal endeavors. *”Anybody that plans to destroy your business or hinder your testimony, Holy Ghost fire!”*
Reflecting on the sermon, Rev. Obetoh further emphasized the importance of serving God to experience His blessings. “Are you profitable to the church? God brought you into this assembly for a reason. He is able to promote you, but you must first serve Him.”
Concluding his sermon with a hopeful declaration, he assured the congregation that their breakthroughs were imminent: *”Something spectacular is about to happen to your destiny! God is able to do, and He will change your situation overnight.”*
This sermon has left a lasting impact on the attendees, who left the service rejuvenated in their faith and hopeful for divine intervention in their lives.
