Voice, Data Services Affected by Undersea Cable Cuts Restored
After the disruption on March 14, 2024, which significantly impacted data and voice services due to cuts in undersea fiber optics along the coasts of Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal, we are delighted to announce that services have now been restored to approximately 90% of their peak utilization capacities.
All affected operators have successfully leveraged recovery capacity from submarine cables unaffected by the cuts, thereby restoring approximately 90% of their peak utilization capacities.
Assurances have been provided by Mobile Network Operators to the Commission that data and voice services will operate optimally until full repairs of the undersea cables are completed. They have successfully activated alternative connectivities, bringing the situation back to normalcy.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to telecom consumers for their patience and understanding during the downtime caused by the undersea fiber cuts.
