ABUJA — The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and Chairman of the Joint Revenue Board (JRB), Zacch A. Adedeji, has hosted members of the Board to an interactive session aimed at strengthening collaboration and improving tax administration across Nigeria.

The meeting, held at the NRS Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, provided an avenue for revenue authorities to deliberate on critical issues affecting tax administration and revenue collection across the federation.

The session brought together stakeholders within Nigeria’s revenue administration system, with discussions focused on enhancing coordination among federal, state and local government revenue authorities.

The Joint Revenue Board is the statutory body established to promote cooperation and coordination among tax authorities across the country. It is chaired by the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service and comprises the chairmen of the State Internal Revenue Services across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, representatives of relevant government institutions and other stakeholders in tax administration.

The engagement comes amid growing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s domestic revenue mobilisation and improve the efficiency of the country’s tax system.

Participants emphasised the importance of greater collaboration among revenue authorities, particularly through the adoption of technology and improved administrative processes.

The interactive session reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Revenue Board to building a more coordinated, efficient and technology-driven revenue administration system capable of supporting Nigeria’s fiscal sustainability and long-term economic development.

The Board’s renewed focus on collaboration is expected to help reduce administrative gaps, improve revenue collection and create a more effective framework for tax administration across the federation.

The engagement also underscores the growing importance of technology and institutional cooperation in strengthening Nigeria’s domestic revenue base and reducing dependence on other sources of government financing.
