Hanson Johnson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Start Innovation Hub, has reflected on what he described as a year of significant service, leadership, and impact within Nigeria’s technology and innovation ecosystem, as 2025 comes to a close.
In a year-end statement, Johnson highlighted 2025 as a period defined not only by organizational growth, but by responsibility and institutional influence. He noted that Start Innovation Hub continued its mission to empower talent, expand access to digital skills, and support startups in scaling sustainable solutions.
According to Johnson, the Hub recorded notable progress through skills development programs that transformed lives and through the growth of startups nurtured within its ecosystem. He credited these milestones to resilience, collaboration, and the collective effort of partners, staff, and community members who support the Hub’s vision.
Beyond Start Innovation Hub, Johnson also outlined his leadership roles across the broader innovation landscape. In 2025, he served as Chairman of the Startup Consultative Forum, working alongside the Federal Government to shape policies for Nigeria’s startup ecosystem. He also chaired the Board of Directors of the Innovation Support Network (ISN), a coalition of more than 230 innovation hubs nationwide focused on building a more inclusive innovation environment.
Additionally, as President of the Ibom Innovation Network, Johnson led efforts that culminated in the successful hosting of the 4th Akwa Ibom Tech Week. The event attracted national and international attention, spotlighting local talent and positioning Akwa Ibom State as an emerging technology hub.
Johnson emphasized that the progress recorded during the year was the result of collective effort rather than individual achievement. He expressed gratitude to his family, team, partners, and members of the Ibom Innovation Network for their continued support, while acknowledging faith as a guiding force throughout the year.
Looking ahead, Johnson stated that while meaningful progress was made in 2025, further work lies ahead to deepen impact within Nigeria’s tech ecosystem. He expressed optimism for 2026, describing it as a year poised for even more intentional and far-reaching innovation outcomes.
