Business leader and philanthropist Folorunso Alakija has commissioned the Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital at Osun State University, marking a major milestone in medical education and healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mrs. Alakija described the project as the fulfillment of a vision that began years ago as an act of faith and obedience. She noted that the hospital is designed to serve as a centre for healing, learning, and hope, with the capacity to train future medical professionals while providing quality healthcare services to the public.
She expressed deep appreciation to her husband, Mr. Modupe Folarin Alakija, as well as Famfa Oil Limited, for their support in bringing the project to completion. According to her, the journey reaffirmed her belief that divine guidance comes with the provision of strength, resources, and people needed to accomplish great tasks.
The commissioning ceremony was performed by Yemi Osinbajo, who praised the initiative as a significant contribution to national development. Mrs. Alakija also acknowledged the support of Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, alongside the university’s leadership, including the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Governing Council members, traditional rulers, and other partners.
She concluded with the hope that the hospital would serve generations to come, raise excellent medical professionals, and stand as a place where compassion, knowledge, and healing intersect. Mrs. Alakija dedicated the achievement to God, giving Him full credit for the success of the project.
