Addressing the gathering, the First Lady urged the diaspora to see themselves as “agents of change” and to support efforts aimed at restoring Nigeria’s standing among nations. She encouraged them to mentor young people at home and help cultivate a mindset shift among students.

“The best you can give children is the ability to dream on their own. Education gives that ability,” she said, adding that Nigeria’s youth deserve opportunities to thrive just as those in the diaspora have had. She also thanked participants for “making Nigeria proud” and called for sustained optimism about the country’s future.
