Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hosted The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward Anthony Richard Louis, at the Nigerian Excellence Evening and Gold Award Presentation held yesterday, highlighting the state’s commitment to youth development and leadership.
The event, organized as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award programme, celebrated young Lagosians who have completed the rigorous and transformative journey required to earn the prestigious Gold Award. Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the awardees for demonstrating resilience, creativity, discipline, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
He described the Award as a life-shaping initiative that builds confidence and instils in participants a deep commitment to their communities and the world at large. The Governor expressed pride in Lagos youth who took on the challenge, noting that their achievements reflect “what determination, creativity and a willingness to learn can achieve.”
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing platforms that empower young people to learn, lead, innovate, and thrive. He emphasized that Lagos will continue to drive initiatives that nurture future leaders and contribute to the advancement of the state.
According to the Governor, the government remains steadfast in championing opportunities that shape young individuals into leaders capable of defining the next chapter of Lagos’ growth and progress.
