The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) has announced that Germany has made an anchor funding contribution to its next-generation Resilience Investment Program—ARISE. The announcement was made by Tariye Gbadegesin, Chief Executive Officer of the CIF, marking a significant step forward in global efforts to scale up climate adaptation finance.
Germany’s contribution follows that of Spain, making the two nations early leaders in supporting the ARISE program, which aims to accelerate private investment in climate resilience. The initiative represents a key evolution in adaptation finance, emphasizing innovative financial instruments and partnerships to strengthen resilience in vulnerable economies.
The milestone was commemorated in the presence of Reem Alabali-Radovan, Ilan Goldfajn, Ana Toni, and representatives from multilateral development banks, underscoring strong international collaboration.
Gbadegesin highlighted the urgency of enhanced resilience financing, citing the recent catastrophic weather events that have impacted Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, and Brazil, the host country of the upcoming COP30.
“Now more than ever, resilience must be front and center,” Gbadegesin said, noting that programs like ARISE are critical to supporting countries most affected by the accelerating impacts of climate change.
