NITDA Director General Co-Chairs US-Nigeria Binational Commission Plenary on Digital Economy and Emerging Technologies

The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, took on the co-chairing role alongside US Deputy Secretary of State, Kurt Campbell, in the recent US-Nigeria Binational Commission (BNC) plenary focusing on Digital Economy and Emerging Technologies.

The session, graced by the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, CEOs, government officials, and representatives from the private sector, was dedicated to fostering research, public-private partnerships, and formulating a Joint Plan of Action to drive digital transformation in Nigeria.

Key discussions during the plenary encompassed collaboration strategies, resource sharing mechanisms, digital literacy programs, and initiatives centered around Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Blockchain technologies. In his address, Director General Inuwa commended the unwavering support of the US Mission and underscored the pivotal role of the BNC in propelling Nigeria’s digital economy forward, in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed focus on reforming Nigeria’s economic landscape to deliver sustainable and inclusive growth.
