Soludo has been known as a man that has always fixed square holes in square peg and with the assemblage of the technocrats that he has, it will cement the position of Anambra as the light of the nation and the first born of the igbo nation.

Having said that, the issue of square peg in a square hole is becoming an issue when there has been rumours that Soludo is alleged to take the Swiss lady married to an Anambra man to be the Commissioner of culture! And this has raise various reactions in the state with some folks saying it is not right.

But, we must get this fact straight, Nwanyiocha has showcased the igbo culture for years, speaks igbo more than many igbo and have this particular love for the igbo people. Having been married to igbo man and Anambra man in particular, nwanyiocha is an Anambra lady by marriage which means she has the right to be commissioner

Well, she has shown love for igbo culture and have demonstrated it over the years and that means she is pure igbo lady and also loved by many igbo who supports her and are very appreciative of her role in putting igbo culture in the global cultural map.

According to Don Chuks Ibeh, he said “To me anybody that loves and promotes Igbo culture no matter how little or big is my best friend. But For Nwanyiocha she doesn’t just promote or talk about the Igbo culture, she eats, sleeps, talks and breathes Igbo culture.”

He added that “The attempt by agents of darkness with inherent wickedness who wants to pull her down because she is a foreigner who is doing what they cannot do for their people in the next million years should be totally frowned at.”

According to Maxwell Obi Okonkwo he said that” I like Nwanyiocha the way she’s promoting our culture both home and abroad. And also she’s teaching her kids how to speak Igbo language and culture too. I know many Igbo women both home and abroad who are not teaching their kids how to speak Igbo or write in Igbo language. I know many will be saying she’s not from Nigeria or Anambra state. But she is married to an Igbo man and also from anambra state. So for me she’s good to go for that post. “

In a new twist, Onyeazor Archangel said that” I suggest commissioner on diaspora matters. She will help to integrate our people offshore for investment, tourism and image making. Our culture will be ambiguous for her for now.”

Nazzy Frances added also that” She’s not well grounded in our culture yet, and she’s not Igbo born and bred. She just knows common things about our food, language and dressing. It will be a slap on the faces of Anambra ladies who have been promoting our culture even more than her if she’s appointed as the commissioner for tourism.”

While Sunday Nweke opined a serious question asking” Sure she will But the question is will she live her comfort zone and risk her family, her children education and the rest to live here in Nigeria ???

While Ugo Sọlọmọn said “She should be appointed for Culture and tourism at federal level not only State, let us join other races to promote the unity as many of our Africans has been appointed and elected in other countries.”

Promise Ihezie said finally that “By marriage she is Igbo and I don’t see the colonialism in making her anything in Anambra state. Secondly, who are the tourists? Them or us? How many Igbos spend good morning touring Igbo land and appreciating the culture and diversity? How many other tribes do? So, If the real tourists who will bring money are those who come from outside, maybe we should make one of them a poster child of our culture and tourism, especially when she is our wife.”

Anambra indigenes are one of the most enterprising and educated in Igbo land and Nigeria in general producing intellectuals like Chinua Achebe, one of the finest writers from Africa, he was a lecturer in USA, Chike Obi, the foremost professor of mathematics once had overseas appointment, Oby Ezekwesili the financial guru has been working overseas also. This shows that Anambrarians are well versed, exposed and travelled, just naysayers are calling out Nwanyiocha for political reasons but in real sense, she is an Igbo woman by the virtue of marriage!

It’s an amazing thing whenever one has the opportunity to observe true Christianity in its simplicity.

I arrived in Oxford barely a few months ago and the strucrure and culture of the local church here, which I attend is nothing short of a joy to behold.

The leadership is steered not by any known face you can link the church to, but simply a team of elders.

If you came into the church and asked, “please, who’s the head or senior pastor here?”. The people who but stare at you in bewilderment. Because there’s no such thing.

They will kindly ask you to specify the name of the leader you’re asking after or point out a person or two to you who are in the team of leaders. There’s no ranking among them. They just complement one another and may perform different roles.

No one sits in the Lord’s congregation as the numeros uno or primus inter pares.

No man is regarded as so-called “set man”. The leaders come into church and they simply sit wherever they find space.

All seats are the same. And no usher will stand you up to say, “oh, sorry, this spot is reserved for so and so, priest, could you please, sit elsewhere? ” Eventhough the leaders who take one or function or the tend to find seats somewhat closer to the podium for the need of having to go there often.

Leaders do not wear the most expensive attires to differentiate themselves from everyone else. They wear normal sweaters, Chinuse, Jeans, shirts like everyone else.

No one is so flamboyantly dressed nor does dressing or societal position acords anyone any special status in the assembly.

No one greets his brother, calling them by their titles or bows or prostrates.

Oxford is a highly academic community and one in five persons you meet even casually is likely a professor, a PhD or studying towards those. Yet, none of that matters.

Everyone is simply the same and placed in a mesh pot of homogeneity. No one aims to impress anyone.

Big and small, drink coffee together and have interactive session where every member and his contribution is equally valued.

No one prays in the name of the God of a pastor or the commission but in the name of the name of Jesus and to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus.

Flyers for programmes which are often rare, just have beautiful religious graphics, timing of schedules and sometimes names of speakers, and hardly any images.

Not a single person is in your face day-in-day-out talking at you from the podium. You show up in church, and the speaker could just be the dude who ushered you in at the door. You never know who it’d be in the next meeting. He may just be a committed member and not necessarily in the team of leaders.

There is not a single face, you may link or hold unto as the face of the assembly.

Not once have I heard the word “tithe” here. Not once have I heard the phrase, “offering time, blessing time”. Not once has a collection basket been passed in my four months since arriving here.

After attending a few weeks, I got disturbed and asked a German friend who’s been in the assembly much longer: “hey bro, don’t you guys give offerings or make donations here?”.

He laughed, and simply said they used to pass baskets prior to the Corona pandemic, but since the pandemic, people make donations volitionally online with or without it being mentioned in a church meeting.

Some working people also instruct their banks to credit the church at intervals based on whatever they wish.

The church funds multi-programme and resource-intensive missionary activities all across the world especially in Asia in Africa and intermittently the leaders on their own accord give a break down of how they’re managing financial resources to the congregation. They in turn call for advise, critique, scrutiny, suggestions etc which may be expressed verbally or in writing.

Thus, the people can see the transparency and financial prudence of their leaders and are incentivised to always give by their own volition without the need for manipulation, pschying or coercion.

No one talks about building more magnificent edifices here. The burden of the people is simply preaching Christ to the far end of the earth and to as many as care to listen.

Focus of the messages are hinged on eternal realities, Godly living, evangelism and missions.

Not once has a prayer being said about “any devil who does not want you to prosper, die by fire.”

Songs are carefully selected spiritual songs with edifying meaning, mostly slow-styled, hymns, psalms and reflective songs. No rhythms which encourages mere dances in the flesh.

Brethren see themselves as brothers and no one claims to be the “spiritual father” or “covering” over the brethren.

Leaders carry their own stuff, have no bouncers or body guards and everyone has access to everyone.

The humility in the congregation is palpable and joy to see.

Bible study is super-participatory and leaders facilitate but speak less. And when a brother gives a more reasonable interpretation to a passage, a leader openly declares that they have learned something or their initial perspective may not have been as good or precise.

Yet, this is not necessarily a small fellowship but fairly large or medium-sized one, running numerous programmes all across the world with no evidence of financial strain or organisational disorder.

Of course, it is not a perfect church and there are biblic subject areas where they have less insight and talk about less, it is predominantly white, a few blacks and Asians, it is denominated although tries to run in a non-denominational way, non-tòngue talking, minimal emphasis on spiritual gifts etc.

Yet, one thing remains inescapably certain and it is that, this humble people bear in them the fruits of the Spirit to a great degree and live in the simplicity of the Gospel.

My experience was also similar, when I lived in Edinburgh.

The Gospel of Christ is simple, but it got to America and Africa and became convoluted.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami) today inspected Federal Government’s National Data Centre under construction in Kano, Kano State.

The Tier 4 Data Centre with a huge memory and capacity is being implemented by Galaxy backbone Ltd, an information technology and shared services provider of the FG under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

The FG has already established two Data centres, one in Abuja and the other in the Southeast. The project commenced in 2021 and is expected to be completed early this year.

I am inexplicably happy that a delegation of Haitians are reportedly in Enugu at the moment to trace their Igbo roots.

I have read somewhere that many Haitians have Igbo roots and that nowhere is Igbo culture deeply embedded in all of South America as in Haiti. I also read about the Igbo presence in Jamaica. In fact, a certain Jamaican lady in Awka once told me that the first time she saw me, she stiffled a scream. I am a spitting image of her father back in Jamaica. She said it took her a while to believe that I was not her father.

I think I am fascinated by the decision of the Haitians to look into the dark tunnel of painful history. I think we should reciprocate this gesture by establishing robust cultural ties with Haiti and Jamaica. Some years ago, Chinua Achebe delivered a lecture to mark the 200 years anniversary of the end of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade in Jamaica. It was historic. It was a great beginning that was never sustained.

This is not one of those ideas where everyone waits hands akimbo for the government. Igbo cultural groups like Ohaneze, Aka Ikenga and Mkpoko Igbo can lead this initiative.

May the spirits of our ancestors give you the light you seek.

In envisioning and inaugurating the Anambra Vision 2070 Committee in 2020, Gov Willie Obiano took a bold step towards repositioning Anambra State for the better – to gain stability in the present and gain momentum for rapid economic growth in the future.

His resolve to bring this vision to reality ensured that the committee was headed by a visionary like Prof. Charles Chukwuma Charles Soludo, who also won the November gubernatorial election and will take over from Obiano as Governor of Anambra State on March 17.

As the transition committee that will see to the seamless transfer of government from Obiano to Soludo is inaugurated today, one cannot help but wonder at the level of passion and commitment to the growth and development of Anambra State and the wellbeing of ndị Anambra, which Obiano has demonstrated throughout his administration.

Chairperson of the transition committee, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, captured the essence of such patriotic commitment aptly when she noted that ‘the vision of the committee was to boost the effectiveness of the Governor-elect and his incoming government team to epitomize, “READY TO GOVERN” and build a liveable and prosperous smart megacity’. Dr Ezekwsili said this during the inaugural session of the committee earlier today at the Golden Tulip Agulu Lake Hotel, Agulu, Anambra State.

Soludo’s readiness to govern and his proven commitment to the “Vision”, to build a new, strong, stable and economically viable Anambra State, informed Governor Obiano’s decision to entrust the State’s future to him. With Obiano’s iconic legacy projects: the Anambra Airport, International Convention Center and the Awka Township Stadium representing early harvests of the Anambra Vision 2070, there’s no doubt that Soludo will run with the vision to give ndị Anambra a liveable and prosperous homeland.

• Says Retreat will help evolve new roadmap for stabilizing internal security

Describing how the cybercrime group runs the ransomeware, the ngCERT advisory says the USB drives contain so-called ‘BadUSB’ attacks. The BadUSB exploits the USB standards versatility and allows an attacker to reprogram a USB drive to emulate a keyboard to+ create keystrokes and commands on a computer. It then installs malware prior to the operating system booting, or spoofs a network card to redirect traffic.

Numerous attack tools are also installed in the process that allows for exploitation of personal computers (PCs), lateral movement across a network, and installation of additional malware. The tools were used to deploy multiple ransomware strains, including BlackBatter and REvil.

According to ngCERT, the attack has been seen in the US where the USB drives were sent in the mail through the Postal Service and Parcel Service. One type contained a message impersonating the US Department of Health and Human Services and claimed to be a COVID-19 warning. Other malicious USBs were sent in the post with a gift card claiming to be from Amazon.

However, ngCERT has offered recommendations that will enable corporate and individual networks to mitigate the impact of this new cyber attack and be protected from the ransomware.

These recommendations include a call on individuals and organisations not to insert USB drives from unknown sources, even if they’re addressed to you or your organization. In addition, if the USB drive comes from a company or a person one is not familiar with and trusts, it is recommended that one contacts the source to confirm they actually sent the USB drive.

Finally, ngCERT has advised Information and Communication Technology as well as other Internet users to report any incident of system compromises to ngCERT via incident@cert.gov.ng, for technical assistance.
