The Federal Ministry of Finance has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a resilient and inclusive economy, emphasizing that Nigeria’s economic transformation will be driven not merely by its vast potential but by the courage to implement reforms and translate opportunities into measurable prosperity.

Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, outlined the Federal Government’s vision for sustainable economic growth, stressing that while the responsibility for maintaining macroeconomic stability rests with the Federal Government, state and local governments play a critical role in converting that stability into shared prosperity for their citizens.

According to the Ministry, Nigeria’s ongoing economic reforms—including foreign exchange market reforms, the removal of fuel subsidies and comprehensive tax reforms—are laying the foundation for long-term economic stability and competitiveness. These reforms, the Minister noted, are designed to improve fiscal sustainability, ease the cost of doing business, strengthen public finances and increase revenue available to states for development projects.

The Ministry highlighted Delta State as one of Nigeria’s strategic investment destinations, citing its favourable geographic location, abundant natural resources, vibrant blue economy, fertile agricultural land and entrepreneurial population as major assets capable of driving industrialisation and inclusive economic growth.

However, the Minister stressed that natural endowments alone are insufficient to guarantee prosperity. Rather, effective execution of policies, investment-friendly governance and sustained implementation of development initiatives are what ultimately transform resources into economic progress.

Reiterating the importance of creating an enabling investment climate, the Ministry observed that domestic and international capital naturally gravitates toward environments where investments are welcomed, protected and supported by transparent institutions and sound economic policies.

The Delta State Economic and Investment Summit brought together government officials, investors, business leaders and development partners to explore strategies for unlocking investment opportunities, accelerating industrial development, creating jobs and improving the quality of life for residents of the state.

The Ministry expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between the Federal Government, state governments, the private sector and development institutions would accelerate Nigeria’s economic transformation, ensuring that ongoing reforms translate into tangible benefits for businesses, investors and communities across the country.

Concluding its message, the Ministry reaffirmed that Nigeria’s next phase of economic growth will depend on sustained reforms, strategic investments and effective execution, noting that the collective commitment of all stakeholders will be essential to transforming opportunity into lasting prosperity for all Nigerians.
