Former Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has highlighted the importance of international gatherings such as the Hamburg Sustainability Conference in fostering collaboration and strengthening partnerships aimed at advancing Africa’s development.
In a statement shared after the conference, Osinbajo said one of the key benefits of the event was the opportunity to reconnect with friends and colleagues who remain committed to the continent’s progress.
He noted that he held discussions with Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, whom he thanked for agreeing, at short notice, to share her insights on emerging issues in global trade during the recent FDCC retreat held in London.
Osinbajo also met with Sudanese-British businessman and philanthropist Mo Ibrahim, Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Faruk Yabo, and UN Global Peace Advocate Maryam Hassan Bukar, popularly known as Alhanislam.
He commended Maryam Hassan Bukar for her outstanding poetic performance at the conference’s closing ceremony, noting that her presentation earned a standing ovation from participants.
The Hamburg Sustainability Conference brought together global leaders, policymakers, development experts, and stakeholders to discuss sustainable development, economic cooperation, and solutions to pressing global challenges.
