Abuja, Nigeria — The Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Arowolo Verheijen, has held a high-level meeting with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, to review progress and key developments in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
During the meeting, the officials discussed major milestones in the industry, including progress in the implementation of Executive Order 9, which aims to strengthen local participation and enhance the competitiveness of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
They also reviewed developments concerning the resolution of the long-running dispute over OPL 245, one of Nigeria’s most prominent offshore oil blocks.
According to Verheijen, the engagement reinforced the shared commitment of both officials to advancing the energy sector agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The administration’s vision focuses on attracting investment, fostering competition, and promoting transparency in the management of the country’s energy resources.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the federal government to strengthen policy coordination and accelerate reforms aimed at improving investor confidence and boosting productivity in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
