On the sidelines of the COP30 Leaders’ Summit, Ms. Tariye Gbadegesin, Chief Executive Officer of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), met with Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), to discuss deepening collaboration in advancing Africa’s clean energy and climate resilience agenda.
The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between CIF and AfDB—two institutions playing pivotal roles in financing Africa’s sustainable transformation. While AfDB provides institutional stability, scale, and influence, Ms. Gbadegesin emphasized CIF’s role in bringing agility and risk appetite to pilot and scale innovative climate solutions.
Discussions focused on two key priorities that align with AfDB’s strategic vision:
- Unlocking Africa’s capital power through innovative financial models that maximize the impact of every dollar invested.
- Building resilient energy grids, industries, and supply chains to ensure affordable, reliable, and locally-owned clean energy and infrastructure across the continent.
Ms. Gbadegesin noted that the collaboration between AfDB and CIF represents a powerful example of shared commitment to Africa’s green growth, emphasizing that targeted investment, innovation, and partnership will be crucial to achieving the continent’s energy transition and climate goals.
