CIF Launches Clean Energy Learning Laboratory in Colombia to Boost Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Sharing

Bogotá, Colombia – The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) has launched the Clean Energy Learning Laboratory, a global platform designed to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration among developing countries pursuing clean energy transitions.

The initiative was unveiled in Colombia with representatives from over 30 countries in attendance, creating a dynamic environment for sharing experiences, practical solutions, and strategies for advancing clean energy.

Speaking at the launch, Tariye Gbadegesin, Chief Executive Officer of the CIF’s Clean Technology Fund and Strategic Climate Fund, highlighted the importance of collaborative learning in accelerating energy transformation.

“We learn best when we learn from our peers — from those who are also doing the hard work,” Gbadegesin said. “Our partners called for more collaborative spaces among and between developing countries — so we delivered.”

She joined several of the sessions to discuss best practices and share insights on accessing CIF’s concessional finance to drive clean energy projects.

The event was hosted in partnership with Colombia’s Ministry of Mines and Energy, with special recognition given to Vice-Minister Karen Schutt and Director Anyie Gabriela Guerrero Riaño, as well as Pablo Angelelli and his colleagues at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for their support.

According to Gbadegesin, the gathering left participants with “new ideas, new resolve, and new connections”, underscoring the role of collaborative spaces in advancing global clean energy goals.

The CIF Clean Energy Learning Laboratory aims to build sustained peer-to-peer learning networks and to equip countries with the knowledge and tools to accelerate their clean energy transitions.
