ipNX Nigeria Limited joined key stakeholders in Nigeria’s telecommunications and infrastructure sectors at the 8th Policy Implementation Assisted Forum (PIAFo) National Dig-Once event, where industry experts called for stronger collaboration and sustainable strategies to improve broadband infrastructure across the country.

The event, held on April 16, 2026, at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, brought together policymakers, telecom operators, infrastructure providers, and technology leaders to discuss the future of fibre deployment and the importance of protecting Nigeria’s growing digital infrastructure.

Speaking during the forum, Dr. Olu Teniola, Director of Strategic Business Initiatives (SBI) at ipNX Nigeria, stressed the need for a coordinated national approach to safeguard and expand the country’s fibre network infrastructure.

According to Teniola, improving broadband penetration and achieving nationwide digital inclusion will require stronger partnerships between government agencies, telecom operators, and infrastructure developers to ensure fibre assets are protected and efficiently deployed.

Also speaking at the event, Segun Okuneye, Deputy Director of Strategic Business Initiatives (SBI) at ipNX Nigeria, highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in protecting critical telecom infrastructure from damage and disruption.

Industry stakeholders at the forum noted that road construction activities account for nearly 60 percent of telecom network outages in Nigeria, a challenge that continues to impact service delivery and broadband expansion efforts nationwide.

Participants agreed that stronger enforcement of Dig-Once policies, improved coordination between construction and telecom operators, shared infrastructure models, and smarter deployment strategies are necessary to reduce infrastructure damage and accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

The Dig-Once initiative is designed to encourage the installation of fibre ducts and broadband infrastructure during road construction projects, helping to reduce repeated excavations, lower deployment costs, and minimize disruptions to telecom networks.
