What some folks don’t realise is that these nations have divided the world into what they call spheres of influence. That is the reason why if there is an issue in Cameroon or Togo, France is expected to take the lead to address it. This is why China or Russia cannot walk into Nigeria to conduct a referendum; however, if Britain wakes up overnight to announce one, everyone takes it as it is. Russia, in pulling off a Soviet Union, created for herself her own sphere of influence; and this is understood by all.
When the Crimea event happened, Russia retaliated by selling weapons to Jonathan despite the ban on weapons placed on Jonathan’s government by Britain under whose sphere of influence Nigeria is. Prior to the West’s interloping on Crimea, no one agreed to sell weapons to Jonathan; even a black market deal via South Africa, was bursted.
In the event the West succeeds in snatching Ukraine off the sphere of interest of Russia, they will have created a bull in a China shop that may be ready to go down with everything. Russia and China will cease to respect the sphere of influence European nations arrogated to themselves. The implication is that they will politically interfere in nations otherwise left for Britain, France and co. That may just be what is needed to break free from the bondage of the quasi independence of African nations.
In the event of such, will African nations seize it? Or will our leaders choose servitude so that they can always have where to borrow money to embezzle?
