PHOTO STORY: Men of FCIM Recently Held Their Annual Convention and Love Feast

The men of Faith Cathedral International Ministry recently held their annual convention at the headquarters of the church at Egbeda Lagos. The event was a remarkable one, the men used the event to thank God specially for what they have experienced this year and most importantly protecting them and their families these perilous times. They also used the occasion to demonstrate love for God and the church. They hosted the congregation to an Annual Love Feast one of the first in the history of the church. Love stands for more than just romantic attraction or strong feelings towards those close to you; it also stands for the truth, respect, and obedience Christians hold for God. This definition was one of the major things that encouraged men to demonstrate their love not only for their families but to the congregations and more importantly God

Speaking at the event, Pastor Fred Obetoh, the amiable General Overseer enjoined the men to be steadfast in Lord and always align themselves and family to the dictates of Christianity. In his words Obetoh said “A man must meet up to the needs of the family. A man that can’t provide for his family is worst that an infidel… So, we have to be guided as a man. Husband is the Head of the family… That is a clear instruction in the Bible. For a husband to be in charge of wife the way Christ is in charge of church. The role of a husband isn’t contestable in the family. Though some folks that are on the feminist side might see this position as misogynistic but that is the role of a man.”

He added “As a man we ought to know our responsibilities and be able to fulfil it. The role of a man puts tremendous responsibility on the shoulders as a man. Don’t let any man or pastor tell you that the woman is the Co-head. This is the position. Now that you got married as a woman, are you bearing your father’s name? This is a global norm and that means that you are under a man. This is just the fact.”

In the same way, the Men Association President, Brother Tony said “We are using this opportunity to appreciate God for his mercies throughout the year and we are using it also to celebrate this yuletide season by declaring the Feast of Love. Love is the highest commandment that was given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. If you look at the laws in Bible, Love is the most paramount and it can be summed up into two major categories, Love of God and That of man. We are collapsing these two to one today.”

Barrister Paul Ihonre, one of the conveners of the programme/convention appreciated the way men turned out for the event. He said that men are the pillars of the church and the need for men to always be the beacon of light not only to their family but to the church and society at large. He enjoined men to always be steadfast in the lord and be of good example to their kids.

“We are extremely happy for the success of this event and convention. We believe that with unity in any place, every unit of the society starting from family will be assured. We are happy that this event turned out like this and we are also giving glory to God Almighty for giving us the ability and capacity to have this event”, Anthony Nwosu concluded.

“We are using this opportunity to appreciate God for his mercies throughout the year and we are using it also to celebrate this yuletide season by declaring the Feast of Love. Love is the highest commandment that was given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. If you look at the laws in Bible, Love is the most paramount and it can be summed up into two major categories, Love of God and That of man. We are collapsing these two to one today.”

While vandalism and theft of telecom infrastructure are often cited as the primary culprits behind poor connectivity, an even more insidious issue is threatening to derail progress: denial of access to telecom facilities.

This growing crisis took center stage at the Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) Protection and Resilience Workshop Series, held in Abuja and organized by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre (NCCC) under the Office of the National Security Adviser. Among the speakers was Dr. Aminu Maida, a leading figure in the telecom sector, who painted a sobering picture of a nation held back by bureaucratic hurdles, community resistance, and property disputes.

“In 2023 alone, we recorded over 20,000 cases of site access denial,” Dr. Maida revealed. “Each of these represents a barrier to connecting…
