Trust me to check out local cuisine. At Ibadan, I asked goggle the best local amala joint? Inastraits came up top on a ranking. My wife was born in Ibadan and she attended University of Ibadan like her father who smartly went to University of Nigeria first ( I didn’t say that)

Back to the food. I Navigated with Google and ended up at a street not far from the cultural center, wrong place. I had my worries, if Google cannot locate the top restaurant how can I trust the ranking? I tried a local trick. Asked the next person standing by the road side ” where is pronounced E..na straits? ” he was confused for a moment. My worries grew….then he said ” ooo E..no straits” I nodded vigorously noting my Igbo pronunciation of the word. We made a detour and got to the Cultural center.

My fears vanished as I saw the well laid out soups and hot amala. The meat stew looked like an Indian massala and the fish was inviting. I quickly ordered. The amala was great as google reviews attested.

I so enjoyed the food that I paid for all the people eating while I was there. One of the young men came to me and said “My Minister”….i was surprised that he could recognize me at an Ibadan bukka. The owner was pleasant and service was great.

My greatest shock…and my wife will like this….they had dental floss at the Amala joint!!!. Ibadan got one over other cities, I will tell Emily Restaurant in Enugu to up the game.

I scored Inastraits…called Inostraits…8/10. Highly recommended. Made new young friends who followed me on Instagram immediately after the hearty lunch.

One of the prominent voices speaking against this troubling trend is Engr. Roberta Edu, CEO of Moppets Baby Food, a Lagos-based infant food manufacturing firm. Reacting to the video, Edu described it as a reflection of the “huge regulatory gap” plaguing the Nigerian business environment.
