Anambra State has emerged as a beacon of female political empowerment in Nigeria, with women holding significant positions across various levels of government. Currently, three out of the seven House of Representatives members from Anambra are women, underscoring the state’s commitment to gender equality in leadership.

Remarkably, Anambra is the only Nigerian state to have had a female governor. Additionally, in the previous administration, two out of the three senators representing the state were women, highlighting a continued trend of female political participation and leadership.

Under the leadership of Willie Obiano, the immediate past governor, the Anambra State House of Assembly had a female Speaker. This achievement stands in stark contrast to many other states in Nigeria, where women struggle to secure even a single legislative seat, let alone the Speaker position.

Anambra’s history of female political engagement dates back to 1999, when Senator Joy Emodi ran for governorship under the APP, one of the top two political parties at the time. Although she narrowly missed becoming governor, her candidacy marked a significant milestone in the state’s political landscape.

The state’s culture of strong female leadership is deeply rooted. Anambra women are known for their leadership qualities and resilience, and this has not diminished the status or respect of Anambra men.

From the banks of the River Niger to the Ulasi River in the east and the Omambala River in the northwest, Anambra women are renowned for their strength, nurturing capabilities, and unyielding resolve. They are a testament to the power and potential of female leadership in Nigeria.

The popular cliché of a Gold fish not having a hiding place, can be said to be personified in the context of political travails of Dr. Peter Daniels. There have been rumors flying around in the Akwa Ibom political space, that Peter Daniel has chosen a particular political party to make his gubernatorial intentions known. Peter Daniel has appreciated the confidence people have bequeathed on him and also believing his capacity to captain the state to the promise land. He also made it known that he hasn’t chose any particular political party.

Debunking the news that he has chosen a select party; this is coming when his posters are seen in the city and the nook and crannies of the state. The Man of God, Peter Daniel has come out to say that the people should disregard the poster and that he will make his intention(s) known in due cause. It is clear that the people of Akwa Ibom are rooting for a paradigm shift and it is also connected with the decision to pick the man of God may not be unconnected to his numerous philanthropic and religious activities in the state and FCT covering nakedness of several widows and less privileged ones in the society. Daniel reveals that he is yet to conclude any arrangements with any political party as of press time.

It was recall that Akwa Ibom state born Prophet Peter Daniels has become a voice of the people within the political landscape of Akwa Ibom state and he has been seen as the next governor considering his strides and the impacts that he has made in the states especially to the less privilege and the indigent in the state. The team of Pastor Daniel understand the pulse of people and encourage the good people of the state to give them time and have patience so that the amiable Daniel will make the desired widespread consultation with the critical stakeholders and then work in tandem with the political calendar stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and also follow the political processes stipulated by the constitution.

“I understand the yearning of the people and the need for them to make me run for the electoral post. I feel humbled by these gestures and I will make my political intention known in due time. As it stands for now, I am pleading with the good people of the state to disregard the posters and fliers in state until I am done with the widespread consultation”, Daniel concluded.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu received a rousing welcome when he returned to Abia state on Monday, July 27, months after he was released from prison…

Recall that in December 2019, the former Abia state governor was sentenced to 12 years in prison after he was convicted for N7.1bn fraud alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited, and a former Director of Finance during his tenure, Ugo Udeogu.

The Supreme court on May 8, 2020, then nullified Kalu and Udeogo’s conviction on grounds that the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Idris, lacked the jurisdiction to have presided over their case. He was released from Kuje prison on June 3, 2020.

On Monday, July 27, he made a triumphant return to the state and was received by his teeming supporters.
