Key export leaders include cocoa, fertilizer, and cashew nuts, underscoring Nigeria\u2019s push to diversify its economy beyond crude oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Dr. Bamidele Ayemibo, Board Chair of the Institute of Export and International Trade<\/strong>, the shift represents a turning point. \u201cNigeria\u2019s exports now outweigh imports\u2026 the trajectory looks very positive with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council\u2019s (NEPC) \u2018Double Your Export\u2019 initiative,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several government-backed initiatives are credited with driving this momentum. These include NEPC\u2019s export credit programmes, the <strong>\u201cProject Earn from the Soil\u201d<\/strong> agricultural initiative, and preparations for the <strong>National Single Window Project<\/strong>, set to be launched in 2026 to streamline trade processes. The country has also recorded a <strong>223 percent surge in regional exports<\/strong> through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, highlighting the importance of regional integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International bodies such as the <strong>World Bank<\/strong> and <strong>International Monetary Fund (IMF)<\/strong> have acknowledged these developments, noting that Nigeria\u2019s export expansion is contributing to trade surpluses and greater macroeconomic stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While inflation and food prices remain top-of-mind for many Nigerians, analysts suggest that the quieter story of export-led growth could reshape the country\u2019s economic outlook.
