The grand finale was nothing short of a spectacle, featuring scintillating cultural performances<\/strong> and electrifying bouts that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.<\/p>\n

Senegal Claims Victory, Nigeria Shines in Women\u2019s Wrestling<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Team Senegal<\/strong> emerged as the overall champions of the tournament, clinching three gold medals and one silver<\/strong>. Nigeria secured a commendable second place<\/strong> with two gold and one silver<\/strong>, while Benin Republic<\/strong> finished third with one silver and one bronze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Nigeria\u2019s strong second-place finish was propelled by gold medal victories<\/strong> from Ebipatei Lienbofa<\/strong> and Ebi Bigos<\/strong> in the women\u2019s 66kg and 76kg categories<\/strong>, respectively. The impressive performance of the female wrestlers did not go unnoticed, as National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko<\/strong>, lauded their efforts during the tournament\u2019s closing ceremony.<\/p>\n

In his closing remarks, Mallam Shehu Dikko<\/strong> emphasized the pivotal role<\/strong> that female athletes have played in Nigeria\u2019s sporting history.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday is women\u2019s day, and we, as a Commission and as a nation, are incredibly proud of the resilience and determination of our female wrestlers. Over the years, Nigerian women have consistently lifted our sporting reputation, and they have done it again in this tournament. We salute our sportswomen\u2014where would we be without them?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He further highlighted that the female wrestlers\u2019 achievements<\/strong> were a clear testament<\/strong> to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda<\/strong> in sports development.<\/p>\n

Mallam Dikko reaffirmed the National Sports Commission\u2019s<\/strong> commitment to sustained collaboration with key stakeholders to drive youth development through sports. He also hinted at Saudi Arabia\u2019s growing interest in investing in Nigerian sports<\/strong>, particularly traditional sports<\/strong>, underscoring the immense potential for international collaborations in the sector.<\/p>\n

Minister of Youth Development Pledges Support<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande<\/strong>, expressed excitement over the abundance of raw sporting talent<\/strong> in Nigeria and pledged to work closely with the NSC to harness these potentials.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud to associate with the Chairman of the NSC, and I assure you that we are fully committed to revitalizing various sporting activities and improving our sports infrastructure for the benefit of all,\u201d<\/em> Olawande stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

ECOWAS Applauds Nigeria\u2019s Role in Hosting the Tournament<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In her remarks, Professor Fatou Sow Sarr<\/strong>, ECOWAS Commissioner for Human Development and Social Affairs<\/strong>, represented by Ambassador Francis Chuks Njoaguani<\/strong>, commended the Nigerian government for successfully hosting the tournament. She urged all participants to uphold the values of unity, resilience, and excellence<\/strong> that were showcased throughout the three-day event.<\/p>\n

The tournament concluded on a celebratory note with the presentation of medals, trophies, and cash prizes<\/strong> to the top-performing teams:<\/p>\n
