Renowned investment coach and real estate mogul, Dr. Stephen Akintayo, recognized as one of Forbes Best of Africa\u2019s Leading Investment Coaches, has expressed his admiration for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, describing him as “arguably the most humble Governor Lagos has ever had.”<\/p>\n

In a recent statement, Dr. Akintayo highlighted Governor Sanwo-Olu\u2019s ability to exercise restraint and composure in the face of challenges, particularly during his interactions with the former speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. \u201cHumility is power under control. How many past governors will endure the rudeness of the former speaker? I am not surprised the speaker was impeached,\u201d he remarked, referencing recent political events in the state.<\/p>\n

Dr. Akintayo also shared his political philosophy, emphasizing the importance of supporting elected leaders irrespective of pre-election preferences. He noted, \u201cI have learned to be very vocal about who I support during elections, but once the election is over, I do all I can to help the winner. It\u2019s the wise thing to do.\u201d He stressed that wishing failure upon a sitting Governor or President is counterproductive, urging Nigerians to adopt a pragmatic approach to governance.\"Babajide<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to the Lagos gubernatorial race in 2027, Dr. Akintayo clarified that he has no intention of contesting but remains committed to supporting the best candidate. He expressed hope that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would prioritize merit over ethnic or religious considerations in selecting its candidate. \u201cI hope they will pick a younger candidate, just like Labour did in the last election. If APC ticks this box, I might support their candidate in 2027,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Regarding the presidency, Dr. Akintayo stated he would evaluate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s performance until June 2026 before deciding on his support for a second term.<\/p>\n

In his closing remarks, Dr. Akintayo addressed critics who suggest that business leaders should avoid politics. \u201cThose who keep saying, \u2018stay away from politics,\u2019 please send that advice to Elon Musk and not me,\u201d he quipped, underscoring his belief in the intersection of business and politics for societal advancement.<\/p>\n
