Certainly, I am Bishop Paul N. Based in El Paso, Texas, my journey encompasses various spheres of influence, from media to ministry, all fueled by a profound commitment to service.

 

How did your journey of faith begin, and what prompted your salvation?

My salvation journey was catalyzed by a family tragedy in 1982, ultimately leading me to embrace Christ in 1985 during a powerful revival service. This transformative encounter set the course for my lifelong commitment to faith and service.

Before embarking on ministry, what endeavors did you pursue?

Prior to diving into full-time ministry, I embarked on a journey of learning and service. From pioneering ministry works in Nigeria to serving as an Army Chaplain in the U.S., my path has been marked by a pursuit of knowledge, leadership, and social impact.

What is the overarching vision and mandate of your ministry?

Our ministry is driven by a vision to liberate the oppressed, minister healing, and effectively communicate Christ to the world. Federal Government Takes Decisive Action, Revokes 924 Dormant Mining Licenses

 

In a significant move aimed at revitalizing the mining sector, the Federal Government has revoked a total of 924 dormant licenses covering exploration, mining, small-scale mining, and quarrying activities. The announcement came during a press conference on Wednesday, led by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake.

Dr. Alake underscored that the decision was made in accordance with constitutional provisions and after providing adequate notice to concerned parties through the official Gazette of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, No. 227, issued on December 27, 2023. He emphasized that license holders were given a 30-day window to rectify their dormant status, with 39 licensees either resuming operations or presenting valid reasons for their inactivity.

The revocation affects a range of licenses, including 528 exploration licenses, 20 mining leases, 101 quarry licenses, and 273 Small Scale Mining Licenses (SSML). Dr. Alake stressed that the action followed due process and aligns with the government’s commitment to the “Use it or Lose it” policy as outlined in mining guidelines.

With the revocation clearing the path for new investors, Dr. Alake stated that interested parties could now apply for the affected Cadastral Units on a “first come, first served” basis. He highlighted the government’s intention to sanitize the licensing system and penalize those who have exploited opportunities for personal gain.

However, Dr. Alake clarified that the revocation was not solely punitive. Affected license holders have been given an opportunity to make restitution by paying fines within 30 days. The fines vary according to the type of license revoked, with a penalty of N10 million for Mining Licenses, N7.5 million for Small Scale Mining Licenses (SSML), and N5 million for Exploration Licenses (EL).

In a stern warning to potential offenders, the Minister emphasized that the government would no longer tolerate activities such as license racketeering or speculative acquisition of licenses for financial gain. He urged investors to promptly commence operations upon obtaining licenses, affirming Nigeria’s commitment to attracting serious investors who can contribute to job creation.

The decisive action by the Federal Government signals a renewed effort to reinvigorate the mining sector, enhance transparency, and promote responsible resource exploitation for sustainable economic development.

Nigeria’s bold initiatives establishing the country as a dominant force in AI and tech talent development will be amplified by strong venture capital demand and interest at GITEX AFRICA’s AI Everything showcase, the continent’s most progressive power forum for AI exploration and deep tech innovation.

That demand will be intensified by the incredible AI growth opportunity in Nigeria; according to analysts Statista, Nigeria’s AI market value will surpass the US$1 billion mark in 2024, growing 17 percent annually over the next seven years to reach US$3 billion by 2030.

Advancing African business and society

FundusAI, Africa’s first AI-powered diabetic care ecosystem, is an example of Nigerian-borne innovation allowing doctors to detect Diabetic Retinopathy early, and will be one of more than 60 of the most outstanding Nigerian start-ups among hundreds of global start-ups at GITEX AFRICA 2024.

“Our product stands out as Africa’s first AI-powered ecosystem for diabetic care,” said FundusAI’s CEO and Founder Abulmalik Adeyemo, who wants to diagnose more than five million patients annually by 2027, while expanding FundusAI’s scope to address additional eye health issues.

“FundusAI offers automated diagnosis, appointment scheduling, treatment referrals, and community support. Additionally, our gamified data collection ensures personalised healthcare insights.”

Farmatrix is another Nigerian AI game changer at AI Everything Expo by GITEX AFRICA 2024, a SaaS platform that connects farmers with agro-commodity aggregators and buyers in real time using advanced AI algorithms, greatly reducing post-harvest loss and boosting profits.
