Enyimba manager Finidi George has defiantly stated his side will push till the end in their quest to defend their Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that the Super Eagles interim coach stated this after seeing his charges salvage a 1-1 draw against Sunshine Stars on Sunday.

The People’s Elephant kept their hopes alive thanks to Chidiebere Nnachi’s second-half strike in Akure, a result that leaves them two points adrift of league leaders Rangers Int’l of Enugu.

Despite the dropped points, George, who has been heavily linked with the vacant Nigeria Super Eagles head coach role, remains bullish about Enyimba’s chances of overhauling their rivals.

“I think so (that Enyimba still have a chance to win the league),” the former Nigerian international told the club media.

“After having this point (against Sunshine Stars), I think we will build on it and see how we can win at home.

“We will push till the end of the season. This is Enyimba, we don’t give up. Others are playing to see how they can win also. So, we will see what happens.”

The nine-time NPFL champions next host Katsina United at the Enyimba FC Stadium as they continue their quest to reel in Rangers at the summit.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a directive instructing four prominent fintech companies to halt the onboarding of new customers with immediate effect.

The affected fintech firms include OPay, Palmpay, Kuda Bank, and Moniepoint, all of which have been directed to comply with the CBN’s directive pending further investigations.

This move by the CBN follows ongoing investigations into allegations of illegal foreign exchange transactions involving accounts on these platforms.

A representative from two of the affected companies acknowledged the CBN’s directive, linking it directly to the allegations under investigation. However, they expressed concern that the directive might be misdirected, highlighting that the majority of the accounts implicated in the illicit forex transactions are associated with commercial banks, not fintech platforms.

“I can confirm that 90% of the accounts implicated in the illicit forex transactions are with commercial banks, and only 10% are with fintechs,” one source stated. “Why then has the CBN not extended this directive to the commercial banks? We face a widespread issue here, and targeting fintechs seems like an unfair focus on the more vulnerable targets.”

The directive from the CBN has raised questions about the rationale behind singling out fintech companies while the issue of illegal forex transactions involves a broader spectrum of financial institutions.

The affected fintech companies are currently cooperating with the CBN as investigations continue, while also seeking clarity on the reasons behind the directive.

Additionally, he offered the Ministry’s platforms to support the efforts of the Senior Special Assistants.

“The National Communication Team will also collaborate with the relevant Special Assistant for each community visit,” he added.

Minister Idris reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria to “recover lost ground” and achieve shared prosperity, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive development.

Earlier in the meeting, the three Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement, led by Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, highlighted the critical role of local engagement in reaching grassroots communities. They sought collaboration with the Ministry to enhance awareness of government initiatives.

“Partnering with the Ministry will enable us to utilize its communication channels to ensure communities are well-informed about government programs and achievements,” noted Yakasai.

The collaborative endeavor aims to bridge the information gap and ensure all citizens are aware of the programs and services available to them.
