In a concerted effort to enhance online safety within Nigeria’s digital landscape, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), recently welcomed a delegation from TikTok. Led by Tokunbo Ibrahim, the Head of Government Regulation and Public Policy for West Africa, the team paid a courtesy visit to NITDA’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

During the cordial discussions, Abdullahi and Ibrahim explored potential areas of collaboration aimed at advancing digital literacy and fortifying online safety measures. Today, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Cisco to advance Nigeria’s digital transformation. Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) Programme is a global initiative that partners with government and private sector leaders to develop sustainable, secure, and inclusive communities powered by ethical and innovative technology solutions.
The partnership aims to unlock the value of digitalisation in Nigeria and drive an inclusive future. The Federal Government will collaborate with Cisco, industry, and academia to accelerate the national digitisation agenda by implementing pilot projects in five key areas:
1. Repurposing NCAIR to create an AI and Cybersecurity Experience and Incubation Center;
2. Establishing a Broadband Innovation Center;
3. Setting up a Smart Agriculture Demo Farm;
4. Designing and deploying Technology Learning Hubs; and
5. Incubating Defense Technology Solutions.
The MOU was signed by the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi CCIE, and the Senior Director of the Cisco Country Digital Acceleration Programme, Clayton Naidoo, at NITDA HQ.
This partnership aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s priority areas of accelerating diversification through digitisation and innovation, strengthening national security for peace and prosperity, and boosting agriculture to achieve food security.

In an effort to expedite development in the agriculture sector, the Federal Government of Nigeria in collaboration with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has strategized to boost food production, export agricultural produce and achieve food and nutrition security.

Speaking during the Business Roundtable Meeting, which took place at Transcrop Hilton Hotel, Abuja, recently, the Hon. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari stated that Nigeria is endowed with agricultural potential and investment opportunities that if properly harnessed, would boost food production that can feed the entire nation and be exported as well as enhance the economy of the country.

Sen. Kyari revealed that “It was part of a deliberate move to achieve food production and explore investment opportunities in the country, that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently met with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia with a follow up meeting being held in Nigeria between the two countries to rekindle the earlier commitment’’

He added that ‘’in prioritizing agriculture and food security, President Tinubu has left no one in doubt as to his willingness and readiness to accommodate a range of ideas that can sustainably develop and encourage investments in the sector’’

In his remarks, the Head of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Delegation and Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engr Abdulrahman Alfadley said that they were in Nigeria to cement relationship between the two countries especially in the areas of comparative advantage including agriculture, investment, economy and job creation.

Earlier, Chairman, Nigerian Governors Forum and Governor of Kwara State, Abdullahman Abdullazaq, pointed out that all lands belong to States ‘’ the Nigerian Governors were willing to channel the lands in their care for full agricultural venture for consumption and export’’.

Also, speaking at the event, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Bagudu appealed to the government of Saudi Arabia and Saudi private investors to invest in the Nigerian agricultural ecosystem.

He added that the Nigerian government is ready to partner with genuine investors to improve the nation’s agricultural system and achieve food and nutrition security.
In attendance were the Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu and Chairman Nigeria Governors Forum, Abdulrahman Abdullazaq and the delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by its Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Engr. Abdulrahman Alfadley, Relevant Stakeholders ,among others.

In line with his commitment to ensure energy security, drive utility, and cut high fuel costs, President Bola Tinubu has directed the mandatory procurement of compressed-natural-gas-powered vehicles by all government ministries, departments, and agencies.

The President’s directive is also in furtherance of Nigeria’s effort to transition to cleaner energy as CNG-enabled vehicles have been adjudged to produce lower emissions, even as they present a more affordable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.

Addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House on Monday, President Tinubu affirmed that there is no turning back in the energy reforms initiated by his administration.

“This nation will not progress forward if we continue to dance on the same spot. We have the will to drive the implementation of CNG adoption across the country, and we must set the example as public officials in leading the way to that prosperous future that we are working to achieve for our people. It starts with us, and in seeing that we are serious, Nigerians will follow our lead,” the President stated.

The President further directed the rejection of all memos brought by members of FEC seeking the purchase of traditional petrol-dependent vehicles, tasking the affected members of the council to go back and diligently seek value-driven procurements of CNG-compliant vehicles.

The President remains committed to effectively harnessing the nation’s gas potential, alleviating the burden of high transportation costs on the masses while enhancing the standard of living of all Nigerians.

In a recent event at the Nigerian Army War College, Obi Asika, Director-General/CEO of the National Council for Arts and Culture, delivered a guest lecture on the cultural influence on leadership. Representing Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Honorable Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy of Nigeria, Asika addressed Course 8 of the War College’s Higher Military & Strategy Management course. The lecture was attended by approximately 75 Lieutenant Colonels and Colonels from Nigeria, as well as officers from other African nations.

During the lecture, Asika emphasized the universal values expected of leaders, drawing insights from historical figures and philosophers spanning Alexander the Great to Nelson Mandela. He highlighted values such as bravery, integrity, decisiveness, responsibility, and the ability to inspire and lead by example.

Brigadier Umar, the deputy commandant of the Army War College, hosted Asika, while Brigadier Okafor provided assistance with preparation and context. Asika commended the support he received and humorously noted being assured he could speak freely without fear of arrest.

Colonel Nuru Muhammed moderated the conversation, facilitating discussions on intentional storytelling and the potential collaborations between Nigerian soft power and the military’s hard power. Asika emphasized the importance of sharing Nigeria’s diverse culture and narratives with the world, noting the significant role of storytelling in shaping perceptions.

Asika illustrated his points with a powerful image featuring former President Obasanjo prostrating before a Yoruba traditional ruler, showcasing the cultural respect embedded within Nigerian society. He interpreted the gesture as an act of true leadership, elevating both individuals and their respective cultures.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has underscored the critical necessity of closing the energy access gap for fostering economic prosperity in the nation.

Speaking at the 2024 edition of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (SPE OLEF) in Abuja on Thursday, Mr. Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., emphasized the pivotal role of energy stability in driving integrated strategies for infrastructure, transportation, and security within the energy sector.

Kyari highlighted NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to developing essential infrastructure aimed at delivering oil and gas to propel economic prosperity for Nigerians. “We are dedicated to building gas infrastructure across the country,” he stated, noting that this commitment aligns not only with the statutory requirements of the Petroleum Industry Act but also with the goal of ensuring long-term energy security beyond mere fuel supply.

Specifically addressing efforts to bridge the energy access gap, Kyari outlined NNPC Ltd.’s initiatives, including the development of infrastructural projects such as the Obiafu/Obrikom/Oben (OB3) and Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipelines, designed to bolster the nation’s gas supply network.

Internationally, Kyari mentioned NNPC Ltd.’s endeavors to expand gas supply through projects like the NLNG Train 7, with plans underway for Train 8 and other floating LNG initiatives.

Kyari called for support in leveraging Nigeria’s abundant gas resources for economic prosperity, stressing the importance of closing access gaps in electricity and clean cooking fuel. He assured stakeholders and investors of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the gas revolution.

Also speaking at the event, Engr. Salahuddeen Tahir, Chairperson of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, highlighted the crucial role of energy in modern society, advocating for a diversified and sustainable energy transportation system to mitigate climate change and enhance energy security.

The 24th edition of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (SPE OLEF) commemorates Nigeria’s first commercial oil discovery in 1956, serving as a platform for policy development within the nation’s oil and gas industry.

(NOSL), a subsidiary of Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Ltd. (SEEPCO), are thrilled to announce the successful commencement of oil production at Oil Mining Lease (OML) 13 in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

The production, which officially commenced on May 6th, 2024, with an initial output of 6,000 barrels per day, is poised for rapid escalation, with expectations set to reach 40,000 barrels per day by May 27th, 2024.
