Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT) reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s national security architecture by showcasing its advanced satellite-enabled communication solutions at the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 Research and Development Exhibition held from July 4 to 6 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The exhibition, hosted by the Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation (DATI), brought together key stakeholders from the defence, technology, and security sectors to explore innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
As one of the Nigerian Army’s longstanding technology partners, NIGCOMSAT used the platform to demonstrate how satellite communications can deliver secure, reliable, and uninterrupted connectivity for military operations, particularly in challenging and remote environments where conventional communication infrastructure may be unavailable.
Representing the organisation, Head of Sales and Strategic Operations, Engr. Ibiye M.C. Ukoko, presented NIGCOMSAT’s suite of satellite-enabled services to senior government and military officials, including the Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and other distinguished guests.
During the exhibition, Engr. Ukoko highlighted the strategic role of satellite technology in strengthening defence communications, supporting command and control operations, and enhancing operational readiness across the nation’s security agencies.
In recognition of the company’s contribution to the exhibition, NIGCOMSAT was presented with a Certificate of Participation, received by Engr. Ukoko on behalf of the organisation.
NIGCOMSAT also demonstrated its technological capabilities through a live presentation of its Communications-on-the-Move (COTM) solution. The demonstration, led by Engr. David Akaangee, showcased how the system provides secure, real-time satellite connectivity for military personnel operating in mobile and demanding environments, ensuring continuous communication during critical missions.
The company’s exhibition stand attracted visits from several defence industry stakeholders and technology partners, including representatives from Gulf Technologies Network Ltd, PROFORCE, DICON, and other organisations interested in exploring satellite-enabled communication solutions for defence and security applications.
Speaking on the significance of the event, NIGCOMSAT emphasized that modern national security depends not only on physical infrastructure but also on resilient space-based communication systems capable of supporting military operations, emergency response, and strategic decision-making.
The company reiterated its commitment to driving innovation in satellite communications while strengthening its partnership with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in advancing the country’s defence capabilities.
NIGCOMSAT also commended the officers and personnel of the Nigerian Army for their century-long dedication, courage, and service to the nation, reaffirming its readiness to continue providing cutting-edge communication technologies in support of Nigeria’s security objectives.
